Advocacy trainings for SHARP community partners

SHARP is pleased to offer our community partners advocacy trainings from the experts at AIDS Foundation of Chicago (AFC). Trainings cover the areas of general advocacy, operations, communications, political strategy, grassroots mobilization, and public health.  Each training can be tailored to meet your needs in terms of time and level of detail. For a complete menu of training topics, click here.

To request and schedule a training for your organization or community, contact SHARP researchers Amy Rosenberg or Dorothee Alsentzer.

Sex education

Future of Sex Education (FoSE)--a project of Advocates for Youth, Answer, and SIECUS--seeks to  create a national dialogue about the future of sex education, and to promote the institutionalization of comprehensive sexuality education in public schools. Here you will find documents produced through FoSE that may assist you in your state and local sex education efforts and/or in the preparation of funding applications to the Office of Adolescent Health for its Teen Pregnancy Prevention Initiatives. The website includes information and resources about various aspects of sexuality education, including the history of sex education; tips for sex education advocacy; professional development opportunities for educators; and sexuality education classroom resources like downloadable lesson plans. Also available on the website are:

  • NASTAD's ADAP Watch - updated information on the growing AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP) crisis across the country (waiting lists, eligibility reductions, formulary restrictions, etc.)
